Master craftsman in the design world and glass designer Gunnar Cyrén created the schnapps devils in connection with the launch of the new Nobel stemware service in 1991. Despite its strong ties to Swedish traditions, the Nobel Foundation did not want to serve hard liquor at the Nobel Banquet, so these clever little devils did not make it onto the dining tables. Instead, the glasses became popular collector’s items in Swedish homes. After Gunnar’s passing in 2013, his sons found a large number of sketches, including the idea for Sparkling Devils.⠀⠀
